誕生

除開人的身形外，凡是生命體都有自動意識中保護自己的強列本能。例如，不知從何而家，有人突然間加害自己時，無意中閃避身體，收縮身體等來保護自己的要害。這是以本能動作為主體，而於消極中所採取的因應措施。由此現象可知，跆拳道的起源，可溯自於人類以一生命體而立足於地球上的瞬間。

　　而後，以生活手段的一環而將跆拳道次第具體化、發展，直至有了絕對的形態。不過，它當然是人類的生活環境複雜化、多樣化的成果。生活的多樣化，換句話說就是文明的尺度，又是以滿足需慾為前提。最初，是須具堅強體力以適應變化無常的生活環境，然後漸次擴展生活範圍而抵抗外部的侵害。

　　跆拳道由消極的形態蛻變，而轉變為積極的絕對性形態，其理由即是。

　　人，為了滿足於慾望而以體驗為鏡子，然後想出新的活動方法，可是，人郤不能只滿足於自己防衛，而不得不兼具攻擊力，這便是跆拳道的形成由來。人類的經驗、智慧、創意等終於產生了有效、適切形態的跆拳道，並漸次發展，形成於今。但是，古今歷史家因對跆拳道的具體技術未能充分了解，並且又怠於整理史實，於是視腳戲、手癖打為跆拳道。雖然有關腳戲、手搏戲等的歷史記錄不少，但郤不解真意而跟相撲（韓國式）混為一談。

　　雖然民族變遷，戰亂不斷，但固有的武藝、跆拳道郤在歷史、命運中，竟能以無形的文化倖存於今天，可說是一件奇跡。西方文化是石造的文化，所以歷經戰火中仍然可以遺留至數千年的文化於今天。可是，木造的東方祖先文化，則因戰火而成灰，甚或連壁畫也不復見。如今在這種狀況下，唯有從墳墓石室中發現跆拳道遺物外，別無他策。茲特介紹幾件跆拳道遺物於次。如此從壁畫上的跆拳道原貌，即可知跆拳道是尚未做成壁畫之前就存在於民間，而人人都具有跆拳道的思想。
